Telappliant Nominated for Best Internet Telephony Award
Leading Internet telephony provider, Telappliant has been nominated for The Best Internet Telephony award for their VoIP service VoIPtalk (www.voiptalk.org) at the 11th Annual UK Internet Industry Awards, hosted by ISPA (www.ispa.org.uk), the Internet Service Providers' Association.
The ISPAs - the UK Internet industry awards - are unique as they are awarded to people and organisations in the industry following rigorous testing and an independent judging process and reflect the broad nature of the internet service provider sector.
Telappliant's VoIPtalk service is one of the largest VoIP networks in the UK, and offers an extensive services and product portfolio, which has been developed and tailored to benefit its customers, enabling them to choose a package or solution that suits them.

Broadband 'is central part of economic lives'
Broadband is a central part of the economic lives of businesses, one expert has claimed. According to Tim Krause, chief marketing officer at IT firm Alcatel Lucent, people all over the world are relying on broadband for hosted telephony services and other business needs. His comments follow research commissioned by Alcatel Lucent which found that people now regard quick internet access as a vital part of life, both in domestic and commercial terms. Market research firms Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates and Ipsos MediaCT conducted the study, which explored ways broadband can promote global economic growth. Researchers found that 84 per cent of consumers would agree that broadband is "an essential network service" and would consider upgrading their internet connection despite the economic downturn. Mr Krause concluded: "As the world looks at ways to address the twin challenges of economic growth and climate change, our research shows that broadband and the digital economy must absolutely be at the top of decision making agendas." Prime minister Gordon Brown recently stated that a good internet connection is now as important as gas and electricity to the people of Britain.
Businesses 'can take advantage of cloud computing'
Businesses have been advised to take advantage of cloud servers, as they offer firms "additional agility" in their enterprising activities. ThinkGrid, which provides enterprise class IT to small and medium businesses, made the claim adding that such facilities can save firms - including those who use VoIP solutions, money and improve the service they offer to clients. David Pratt, chief executive officer at ThinkGrid, said: "Small business can get best of both worlds. "Moving to a cloud storage service, means that they just pay for what they use, so they're never going to fill up their cloud storage, they pay as they go." He added that it will particularly benefit businesses with home workers or operating from a domestic base as it gives all remote employees access to company information.A survey conducted by online software firm Gooroo earlier this year found that by the end of 2010 54 per cent of all small businesses will be using cloud computing solutions.
